Madness

There's only so much I can take
the stress, the fracture, waiting to break
to create a crack running the length of me
making me someone I don't want to be
hating the madness, controlled by my sadness
wanting so much to set myself free
but chained by desire for you to want me,
to hold me, to love me like you've always said you do
but show it not once I give myself to you
and now that I'm yours you've misplaced me,
or perhaps broken, swept, and erased me,
soon to be forgotten, old, moldy, and rotten
nothing worth keeping, I feel I'll die weeping
